NEUST RECEIVES PHP3M DOST FUNDING

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) obtained a total of P3,089,600 funding from the Department of Science and Technology Region III (DOST III) for its project that will help the agricultural sector in Central Luzon.

Dr. Julius Caesar V. Sicat, DOST III Regional Director, and Dr. Rhodora R. Jugo, NEUST President, formalized the funded project through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on December 19, 2024. This was made possible through the endorsement of Ms. Leidi Mell B. Sicat, Provincial Director DOST Provincial Office.

The NEUST, through Dr. Jean N. Guillasper, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, accepted the funding granted under the 2024 Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Program at the DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija on January 8, 2025.

Dubbed as “2024 CEST in Region III: Empowering and Developing SMART-READY Central Luzon Communities through Sustainable Science and Technology Solutions,” the funded project will improve agricultural productivity by providing solar irrigation trailer units to farmers and cooperatives in Aurora, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac.

As the sole recipient of this funding in Region III, NEUST will also provide technical leadership, training, and supervision to ensure the success of the project that will help promote renewable energy use, boost economic growth, and support environmental sustainability.
