Recognizing the need of the DepEd SDO Annex Gabaldon Teaching Force to cope with the technical and digital requirements of the new normal, the faculty of BSIT Gabaldon Campus launched Tech-Tok, a five-course topic on basic computer skills on May 2023 at the Science and Technology Laboratory Building of NEUST Gabaldon Campus.
The said course allows both elementary and secondary public school teachers in Gabaldon District to refresh and enhance their knowledge and skills on basic computer troubleshooting, photo editing skills, paper tarpaulin-making, making inventory, and the different practical applications for the new normal classroom setup.
“I am happy because this event was the first RET activity that I attended as the campus director,” exclaimed Dr. Franklin T. Dumayas, NEUST Gabaldon Campus Director who graced the occasion with his presence.
As he went through his lecture titled Up, Apps, A Way, BSIT Program Chairperson and Project Leader Asst. Prof. Ronaldo Arimbuyutan emphasized that, “We are in a technological and digital age, and our problems are related to technology. Therefore, our solution should be complemented with technological and digital knowledge also.”
The rest of the BSIT Core Faculty roster also served as resource speakers and technical experts on the following topics: Troubleshooting for Dummies delivered by Mr. Dexter B. Bernadas, Photo 4 IG given by Mr. Danilo I. Sisor, Jr., DIY Inventory presented by Mr. Alvin S. Enrico, and Tarpo Made Easy which was jointly presented by Mr. Aldrin Dave S. Quilinguin and Mr. Melvin C. Tadili. Student leaders from the BSIT Confederation also assisted the attendees as workshop facilitators and technical assistants.
Tech-Tok seminars are designed to impart knowledge through technology-transfer. Furthermore, the activity aims to introduce its participants to the fundamentals of a computer system and its primary utility. On February 2024, the participants successfully completed and acquired skills on practical computer troubleshooting, maintenance, hardware examination, file management knowledge, classroom productivity, and operating systems.
