On October 18, 2024, the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) hosted the 3rd Quarterly Meeting of the Central Luzon Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CLIEERDEC) at the Mini-Convention Center, Sumacab Campus.
Attended by the representatives from the members of academic institutions across Central Luzon, including Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Tarlac State University (TSU), Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Don Honorio Ventura State University (DHVSU), and Bulacan State University (BulSU), the discussions centered on reviewing research proposals submitted by the consortium members, which addressed significant challenges in their respective fields, aiming to foster innovation and practical solutions in the region.
The agenda also includes the revival of the regional research competition, designed to promote research excellence across Central Luzon. Participants refined the competition's rules, focusing on criteria for recognizing the best Research and Development paper, presenter, and poster. Their involvement highlights the strong commitment of these institutions to strengthening research and development through collaboration.
NEUST, as the host and chair institution of the consortium, plays a vital role in directing CLIEERDEC’s initiatives to foster research collaboration. Through this consortium, NEUST and its partners are focused on enhancing the research capabilities of the region, with the goal of establishing Central Luzon as a center for scientific and technological advancement.
The 3rd Quarterly Meeting underscored CLIEERDEC’s significance as a key driver of scientific, technological, and research progress in Central Luzon, supporting efforts that contribute to the region’s growth and development.

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology’s 2024 Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Planning convened an extensive and dynamic collaboration among RET chairs and focal persons from various colleges, units, satellite campuses, and off-campuses. This comprehensive planning session utilized SWOT and PESTLE analyses to critically evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and external factors impacting RET activities. Each participant meticulously developed an Operational Plan tailored to address identified challenges and leverage opportunities within their specific contexts.

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) Training Department organized a comprehensive Research, Extension, and Training (RET) seminar entitled ‘Empowering the Academic Community to Promote Strong Research, Extension, and Training Interface’ on August 6-7, 2024, at Nieto Hall, NEUST Sumacab Campus.
The training aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the NEUST deans and directors, RET chairs, and senior faculty members in research and extension, encouraging them to create and sustain projects beneficial to the community.
