NEUST COLLEGE OF EDUCATION HOSTS INAUGURAL STUDENTS' RESEARCH CONGRESS

In a celebration of academic excellence and innovation, the NEUST College of Education hosted its first-ever Students' Research Congress on December 5, 2023, at Nieto Hall, Sumacab Campus.

The event drew participants from all programs within the College of Education, marking a significant milestone in the institution's commitment to fostering a research culture and empowering student-led inquiry. A total of 21 research teams showcased their projects, spanning diverse strands such as Basic and Applied Science, Curriculum Design and Development, and Design, Implementation, and Assessment of Innovative Technologies in Education. Among the standout projects were the winners of the Best Paper awards:

  1. Basic and Applied Science Strand: "Effectiveness of Averrhoa bilimbi L. (Kamias) and Citrus × microcarpa (Calamansi) Mixture vs. Commercial Fabric Bleach: A Comparative Analysis"
  2. Curriculum Design and Development Strand: "Awareness and Readiness in HyFlex Learning: A Needs Assessment"
  3. Design, Implementation, and Assessment of Innovative Technologies in Education Strand: "Development and Assessment of an Interactive Web-Based Application for Digital Electronics Technology Subject"


Ms. Michaela Z. Alberto, a recipient of both the Best Paper and Best Presenter awards under the Curriculum Design and Development Strand, shared her thoughts on the significance of the event. "Participating in the Research Congress has been an enriching experience. It provided a platform for us, as future educators, to delve into pertinent issues in education and contribute innovative solutions. I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase our research and engage with peers and mentors," she remarked.

The Research Congress served as a testament to the College of Education's dedication to nurturing a culture of research excellence among its students. Through initiatives like this, NEUST continues to uphold its commitment to producing competent and innovative educators equipped to address the evolving challenges of the education landscape.

Dr. Angelica O. Cortez, Dean of the College of Education, expressed her pride in the students' achievements and the success of the inaugural Research Congress. "This event underscores the importance of student-driven research in advancing our understanding of education and promoting evidence-based practices. We are immensely proud of our students' accomplishments and look forward to more opportunities to showcase their research endeavors," she stated.
