NEUST LANGUAGE FACULTY PARTICIPATES IN THE LINGUISTIC SOCIETY OF THE PHILIPPINES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE 2024

Seven (7) NEUST English faculty members participated in the Linguistic Society of the Philippines International Conference 2024 held at Isabela State University, Cauayan City, Isabela on April 11-13, 2024.
The delegation from NEUST are as follows: Dr. Rosalie A. Pineda from Gabaldon Campus; Dr. Loriejane S. Jose, Dr. Walter P. Salva, Mr. Reynaldo J. Ilumin from General Tinio Campus; Dr. Loreen P. Agulan and Mr. Celso P. Resueño from Sumacab Campus; and Ms. Eloisa C. Gabriel from San Isidro Campus.
The three-day international conference was filled with plenary sessions and research presentations. For the opening salvo, Dr. Stefanie Shamila Pillai, professor of Universiti Malaya, served as the keynote speaker sharing the topic: “Navigating Transitions on Multilingual Contexts in Language Education and Language Research”. On the second day, Dr. Joel C. Meniado of the Regional Language Center – Singapore shared “Human – Machine Collaboration: How Teachers in the ASEAN Region Leverage Generative AI in Language Teaching and Assessment”. While on the last day, the President and Vicar General of St. Ferdinand College, Rev. Msgr. Edmundo C. Castaňeda, shared the topic: “The Ibanag Quest for Linguistic Justice, Pluralistic Democracy, and Liberatory Education”. The rest of each day was allotted in parallel sessions on research presentations.
Breaking the monotony of the three-day routine of the conference, a tour to Meraki Garden was organized for the participants to unwind and be recharged.
