The College of Industrial Technology's extension services recently organized a comprehensive Basic Baking Program, running five Saturdays from January 6 to February 3, 2024, at their community training center.

A total of 57 trainees participated in the program, representing a diverse group from NEUST, including faculty, staff, and students. Spearheading the training was Mr. Daryll R. Gabutin, a respected Food Technology faculty member of CIT, whose expertise and guidance proved invaluable throughout the program. The participants actively engaged in hands-on activities, honing their skills in bread-making techniques, creating a variety of cookies, exploring cupcake decoration methods, and mastering cake baking and decorating skills.

The collaborative learning environment fostered by the diverse group from NEUST facilitated knowledge sharing among individuals with varying levels of baking expertise. This atmosphere contributed significantly to the overall success of the program.

The initiative could not have been possible without the support and efforts of key figures including the Vice President for Research, Extension, and Training, the Director, and the Unit Head. Their dedication ensured the provision of sustainable short courses to the community, with the entire faculty and staff of the College of Industrial Technology contributing their expertise to the training.

The training program aims to empower the community by equipping them with essential baking skills necessary for job applications or starting businesses, thus promoting sustainable growth and development in the region.
