MOA Signing Between NEUST and 11 Organizations (April 30, 2024)

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, through the Extension Services Department, formally sealed Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) with eight new agencies as new partners for extension services and programs of the university on January 23, 2024.

Present during the MoA signing were the Center Director of Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) Regional Training Center III, Dr. Joey A. Belarmino; Laur OFC Food Products Manufacturing Representative, Mrs. Elisa Untal; President and CEO of One Farm Sto. Domingo Corporation, Mr. Richard I. Santos; Honorable Mayor of LGU Pantabangan, Roberto T. Agdipa; and Honorable Mayor of LGU Ma. Aurora, Aurora, Ariel S. Bitong. New partners also included the Organization for Industrial and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) Japan, the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PHILRICE), and Central Luzon State University (CLSU).

In a significant development on January 23, 2024, NEUST's Coffee Production project received a five-year accreditation as a Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA) by the Agricultural Training Institute - RTC III at the NEUST General Tinio St. Campus, solidifying NEUST's leadership in agricultural education and innovation through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between NEUST and the Agricultural Training Institute -RTC III.

RIZAL, Nueva Ecija – Five (5) faculty members from the Teacher Education Program conducted a District Training on Research last January 30, 2024 during the in-service training of Schools Division of Nueva Ecija Rizal Annex at Rizal District Conference Hall.

The partnership between SDO Rizal Annex and TEP Faculty Gabaldon Campus started during the pandemic through virtual training and consultations on research writing. During her inspirational message, Rizal District Supervisor Dr. Elizabeth P. Sibayan expresses her gratitude towards the TEP Faculty, headed by program chairperson Mr. Jaypee R. Del Rosario who is also a homegrown Rizaleño, for finally conducting an in-person training on research among the teachers and school heads of Rizal District.

GABALDON, Nueva Ecija – Six (6) faculty members from the Teacher Education Program (TEP) of NEUST Gabaldon Campus teamed up to institute the Leadership Development Program for LGU Gabaldon Employees: A Catalyst for Human Resource Transformation on October 27, 2023.

Municipal Mayor of Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija, Hon. Atty. Jobby P. Emata, acknowledges the need for continuing personal and professional development in public service. In line with this, the TEP Faculty, spearheaded by program chairperson Mr. Jaypee R. Del Rosario and Gabaldon Campus Research, Extension, and Training chairperson Dr. Rasha Amira Khalil, initiated this long-term plan extension program that would help the employees of LGU Gabaldon in enhancing their communication skills, critical thinking skills, collaboration, and creativity.

A total of 21 research teams showcased their projects, spanning diverse strands such as Basic and Applied Science, Curriculum Design and Development, and Design, Implementation, and Assessment of Innovative Technologies in Education. A historic international research collaboration between Universitas PGRI Madiun (UNIPMA) in Indonesia and the College of Education at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) in the Philippines prospered on November 11, 2023, aiming to improve educational methodologies and practices.

Distinguished faculty from UNIPMA, under the direction of Vice Rector Dr. Jeffry Handhika, visited the College of Education at NEUST. This momentous gathering set the stage for a number of joint initiatives that would advance teaching and learning methodologies in both nations. This innovative approach towards globalization was first conceptualized by the Dean of the College of Education, NEUST, Dr. Angelica O. Cortez, together with the Vice Rectors of UNIPMA, Dr. Jeffry Handhika, and Dr. Marheny Lukitasari.

The NEUST Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Services Office sponsored a capacitating program on Training on Planning and Implementing Extension Projects from Community Diagnostics, Community Planning, Results – Based Monitoring System to Formative, Summative, and Impact Evaluations of Projects held on April 22 – 23, 2024 at Nieto Hall, Sumacab Campus.

The general objective of the seminar is to initiate innovations by reengineering, redirecting, realigning, and revitalizing the extension services of the university. To achieve such an intention, the research and extension faculty members and RET chairs were the participants in the said training.

The College of Industrial Technology's extension services recently organized a comprehensive Basic Baking Program, running five Saturdays from January 6 to February 3, 2024, at their community training center.

A total of 57 trainees participated in the program, representing a diverse group from NEUST, including faculty, staff, and students. Spearheading the training was Mr. Daryll R. Gabutin, a respected Food Technology faculty member of CIT, whose expertise and guidance proved invaluable throughout the program. The participants actively engaged in hands-on activities, honing their skills in bread-making techniques, creating a variety of cookies, exploring cupcake decoration methods, and mastering cake baking and decorating skills.

The Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology Gabaldon Campus Laboratory High School in partnership with the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Gabaldon conducted a training-seminar on Adolescent Health Awareness last November 21, 2023, at the USG Function Hall.

The seminar aimed to increase awareness on physical, sexual, and mental health and well-being among adolescent students, promote socio-emotional learning and psychological well-being, ensure access to mental health care, protect and support adolescent students from adversity, and increase awareness on the prevention of unwanted teenage pregnancy.

Recognizing the need of the DepEd SDO Annex Gabaldon Teaching Force to cope with the technical and digital requirements of the new normal, the faculty of BSIT Gabaldon Campus launched Tech-Tok, a five-course topic on basic computer skills on May 2023 at the Science and Technology Laboratory Building of NEUST Gabaldon Campus.

The said course allows both elementary and secondary public school teachers in Gabaldon District to refresh and enhance their knowledge and skills on basic computer troubleshooting, photo editing skills, paper tarpaulin-making, making inventory, and the different practical applications for the new normal classroom setup.
